Is goat meat, the meat of future?

Future meat will be green, low fat and low cost: Is goat meat the most promising prospect?

Goat meat, but also kangaroo, insects and even synthetic meat are often quoted!

The world goat population could double in India during the next 10 years, with the government support. Facing desertification of many regions such as Rajasthan, the goats, rustic animals provide the breeders good level returns. Goat meat would be a good answer the increasing demand of meat in India and abroad: 80% of the Indian goat meat is exported, mainly in Asia. But the main problem is always the same: to find food to feed the goats. Short grass and little water could be enough but if it is left. The situation becomes very tense in Rajastan and the shepherds go to the forests threatening ecosystems. Furthermore, goat breeding is not only for poor farmers now and more and more investors and industrials companies are attracted by its possible profits. The fodder shortage is getting worse and in December the dry fodder offer was only 253 million tons when demand was 416 million tons
